FUNERAL DETAILS OF THE LATE ALAN KETTLEBOROUGH.

The funeral of the late Alan Kettleborough will be held on 17 January at Rotherham Crematorium at 11 am and afterwards at Sitwell Golf Club.

Members who knew Alan will be most welcome.

It is with great sadness that I let members know of the death of Alan Kettleborough.

Alan was a driving force in the early days of the Club’s junior set up - the first proper qualified cricket coach. He gave a lot of his time to coaching voluntarily and also did a lot on fundraising.
He used to have a Sports shop in Dinnington and in later years was groundsman and cricket coach at Worksop College.

His son Richard was a junior cricketer who went on to become a professional cricketer and is now a top international umpire.

Richard has asked me to let Club members know, and I will follow up with funeral arrangements once known.

It is with great sadness that I let members know of the recent death of Dr Roger Gaubert, a very popular and professional General Practitioner with the Dinnington Group Practice. Roger retired some years ago.

Roger was very instrumental in the 1970’s and 1980’s in helping the Club raise much needed monies to help us move from a wooden hut to the original Clubhouse.

He was a Life Playing Member of the Club.

Roger’s funeral will be held on Friday 19th April at 11 am At Babworth Crematorium, and afterwards at The Loyal Trooper in South Anston.

John Lyne is ordering some bucket hats (one size fits all) from OddBalls at  £15 each.  Its a bulk order of 100 with a cut off point of 03 June 2024, when he will be putting the order in.  If you're interested, then please let him know.

John Askew

Members will be saddened to hear of the death recently of John Askew, a former player of yesteryear. John captained the 3rd XI when we originally played in the Doncaster League. Back in the day we had two quiz teams playing in a local quiz league and John captained the second of these.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday 27th August 1pm at Barnby Moor Crematorium, no dark colours please, cricket/rugby shirts if possible.

ELIZABETH (LIZ) LYNE 

It is with great family sadness that I let you know of the sudden sad passing of Liz Lyne.  Most members of the Club know Liz as a regular keen spectator at junior and senior matches over many years. 

Liz has always been a strong supporter of the Club, helping at many social and fund- raising events and she will be greatly missed. 

Sincere condolences go to Adrian and son’s John and Andrew and their families. 

The funeral will take place at St. Leonard’s Church, Dinnington on 12th September 2024 at 2 pm.  This will be followed by a burial at Park Avenue Cemetery for family and close friends only please. Family flowers only, but donations in lieu would be most welcome to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. 

Refreshments will be available after the service at Anston Cricket Club, Ryton Road, North Anston and the family would welcome you to join them there.
