It is with great sadness that we have to report the death of Frank Hogg, long time and oldest member of Anston C.C.
Frank had in recent years moved to woodlands Care Home from his bungalow in Woodsetts. Up until that time Frank had lived alone (with help from his family) drove his own car, and tended his own garden. He was a keen gardener and every year planted out hundreds of bedding plants to brighten up his borders. He also tended his own hanging baskets.
Frank was a Sheffield Wednesday fan, educated at Woodhouse Grammar School. In May 1999 Frank wrote the history of Anston Cricket Club 1919-1950. In the summer months Frank often watched the home teams and enjoyed the company present along with a nice cold beer.
He was one of the driving forces in the land being bought for the present Club site way back in 1949 for the sum of £175.
Frank has always remained a key supporter of the Club behind the scenes and those of us who knew him will miss him.
His funeral will be held on MONDAY 1 AUGUST AT 1 PM AT SOUTH ANSTON METHODIST CHAPEL, and afterwards in the Chapel Hall.

It’s with great sadness we announce the passing of Jane Hanson, a life member of Anston Cricket Club and great friend to many.
She was always available for a beer and a chat, Jane helped out in many roles at ACC over the years.

KEN STEWARD 1941-2022
It is with great sadness that we write this obituary – with the passing of our dear friend and great Clubman – Ken Steward who died recently.
Ken joined the Club in 1980 and played his first season in 1981. He had previously played cricket for Dinnington Colliery Institute C.C. Ken opened the batting for the 1st XI throughout the 1980’s and was a very successful opening bat. He was a very competitive cricketer. From 1984 to 1986 – 3 years – Ken captained the 1st XI. He was a very successful and was very well respected by his team but also the oppositions at that time.
During those years Ken coached and managed the U15 squad and later the U18 squad and encouraged many young players during the 1980’s and beyond. Ken was also a regular in the Anston C.C. Quiz team which played regularly across Rotherham, and his competitive spirit was just as strong in the quiz scene as in the cricket scene.
Ken was a Life Playing Member of the Club and a generous Patron. He and his wife Ray have been great fundraisers for the Club over many years, busy helping when various versions of the Clubhouse were built, upgraded etc and regularly helped with the painting and decorating. Ken also enjoyed the social activities of the Club and many friendships have been forged at the
Club.
In recent years he could regularly be found watching the Anston 1st XI with his mate Martin in the top corner of the ground, and at away matches.
He will be sorely missed by his many friends at the Club. Sincere condolences to Ray, Glen, Andrew and their families at this sad time.
Funeral arrangements :
The funeral will be held on Wednesday 11th January 2023 at 10.30 am at St. Leonard’s Church, Dinnington – followed by cremation at Rotherham Crematorium and afterwards at Anston Cricket Club. Ray and the family would welcome members and friends to come back to the Cricket Club after the funeral service.
Family flowers only please, but donations to Rotherham Hospice in Ken’s memory would be most welcome. Thankyou.

The Committee have requested that an Extraordinary General Meeting is held on Tuesday 2nd May at 7pm.
The purpose of the EGM is to make an amendment to the Club's Constitution. It is proposed that we add a clause to make sure membership is “open” and that the Club adopts the relevant ECB policies, which is required to ensure we remain Clubmark compliant.
You are therefore invited to attend the EGM to vote on the proposal, after which we will be holding the May Committee meeting.
